Title
Authorizing the mayor to prepare specifications, accept bids and enter into price determining contracts after due advertising according to law for geotechnical testing services and related engineering services; and declaring an emergency.

Body
SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The City of Toledo needs testing and related engineering services for numerous construction contracts that the division administers. The Division of Engineering Services and the Toledo Waterways Initiative are two of the primary users of these services. Since numerous divisions utilize the same types of tests for their respective projects, the city has found it beneficial to have price determining contracts established that contain schedules of prices for commonly utilized testing and engineering services. Funding for these services are contained in the various, individual, operating and project budgets authorized by council, and while singularly they represent a small portion of the projects' costs, collectively they are sizeable enough that competitively bidding contracts for these services is desirable. This ordinance authorizes solicitation of formal proposals and entering into price determining contracts for geotechnical and related engineering services from companies meeting the city's geotechnical testing qualifications.
