Title
Authorizing the expenditure of an amount not to exceed $3,530,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund for the purchase of four fire engines and four fire ambulance transport vehicles; waiving the formal competitive bidding requirements of TMC Chapter 187 for the purchase of fire engines and ambulances; waiving the competitive bidding requirements of TMC Chapter 187 for the purchase and installation of ambulance equipment; making findings with respect thereto; authorizing the mayor to accept bids and award contracts for said purchases; and declaring an emergency.

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
Toledo Fire Department is in need of four fire engines and four fire ambulance transport vehicles to replace ones presently in the fleet. All current vehicles identified for replacement are all high mileage vehicles with high maintenance costs. The lifetime maintenance cost on some of these vehicles exceeds their original cost.
