SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
A District Improvement Program application has been submitted to support ConnecToledo in advancing implementation of the Wayfinding Strategy Executive Summary and Final Recommendations Report developed in 2024 by Kolar, a nationally recognized, Ohio-based firm specializing in wayfinding systems, civic communication, and place-based solutions. Development through input from community members, institutional partners, and key stakeholders, the strategy establishes the fundamental elements of a comprehensive signage system serving both vehicular and pedestrian users.

On behalf of the City of Toledo, ConnecToledo, working in partnership with the Toledo Design Collective, is managing implementation of the Wayfinding Strategy. Of the 133 recommended signs for the entire project, the first six flagship signs in District 3 can be installed through this DIP funding.

The District Improvement Review Committee convened on August 11, 2026, and recommended approval of this application in an amount of $50,000.

Summary
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to execute the necessary contracts with ConnecToledo from the District Improvement Program for the stated purposes, upon such terms and conditions as shall be approved by the Director of Economic Development and the Director of Law.
