Recognizing Mary Mikesell Cianci, Owner of Sew-N-Such, for 40 years of commitment and exceptional service to the community.

Summary
WHEREAS, in 1982 she started her business as a single mom of two young children, Paul Michael, and Anthony; she started her business from her basement to provide for her family; and after a few years of growth, she expanded and opened her storefront, located at 1242 W Sylvania Avenue known as Sew-N-Such; the company offered more than just standard services like hems, zippers, mending, and tailoring; it was dedicated to serving the community by creating costumes, custom bridal wear, catering to cross-dressers, and providing a wide range of additional services; and

WHEREAS, for 15 years, Mary taught night classes at both Clay High School and Whitmer High School; her exceptional ability to listen and craft the perfect garment for her clients has led to her being recognized as a "Design Seamstress and Tailor, and some even refer to her as a "wizard"; her outstanding work has earned her the title of Best Tailor in Toledo and a runner-up spot in City Paper; and

WHEREAS, Mary attended Start High School in Toledo, Ohio, where her years were filled with numerous activities; some highlights of her involvement include serving as Vice President and a Director within the student body government, being the business manager for the school newspaper, The Galaxy, and participating on the Drama Production committee; additionally, she engaged in intramurals, contributed to Servata school service, acted as a sophomore representative, and held positions as Sergeant-at-Arms, Treasurer, and President of the Paramedical Club; in 1973 following her high school career, Mary pursued her studies at The University of Toledo, majoring in science, math, and physics.
