SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
Vandalism and theft at the Hoffman Road Landfill have compromised a critical safety measure in place to protect City personnel, service providers and the general public against potential electrical shock injury. Until such time as an appropriate repair can be made to an electrical grounding system on the landfill's eastern perimeter fence there is an unmitigated risk to human health and safety. Given U.S. Utility's previous experience on this specific project and their availability to immediately respond, U.S. Utility was contacted to investigate and perform the repairs.
Summary
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a contract with U.S. Utility for emergency repair services to the electrical grounding system on the perimeter security fence at the Hoffman Road Landfill, upon terms and conditions approved by the Director of Public Utilities and the Director of Law.
SECTION 2. That the expenditure of an amount not to exceed $92,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund authorized from Account Code 5040-24500-8CP2418LNDCELL for emergency repair services to the electrical grounding system on the perimeter security fence at the Hoffman Road Landfill.
