SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this ordinance is to provide funding for the Fourth of July fireworks in the City of Toledo slated to take place this year on Saturday, July 1 2023. This legislation authorizes transferring $20,000 from the General Fund to the Toledo Fireworks expendable trust fund established under Ordinance 233-18. These City funds will be combined with donations to provide for the fireworks show, which is to cost $50,000 in total.
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the transfer of $20,000 is authorized from the General Fund Account Code 1001-10202-1143001STDADM to the Toledo Fireworks Expendable Trust Fund Account Code 2152-23100-1TJULY4FIREWK for the July 1st, 2023 Toledo Fireworks Display.
SECTION 2. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this ordinance is necessary to transfer these funds to prepare for the fireworks in advance of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.
