Authorizing the expenditure of an amount not to exceed $115,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund for roads and buildings improvements at Forest Cemetery; authorizing the Mayor to accept bids and award contracts for materials and professional services necessary to complete said purchase(s), including the use of City Road and Bridge Maintenance and Facility Operations staff; and declaring an emergency.

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

This Ordinance authorizes expending an amount not to exceed $115,000 from the appropriated CIP funds for necessary materials and improvements at Forest Cemetery. Together, Road and Bridge Maintenance and Facilities Operations will repair and improve paths & roadways, building façades, and lighting. Repairs and estimated costs include the following:

Path and road /replacement: $60,000

Demolition of garage: $10,000

Lighting upgrades and building façade: $45,000

 

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

                     SECTION 1.  That an amount not to exceed $115,000 is authorized for expenditure from the Capital Improvement Fund, Account Code 5040-26100-8CP2319IMPCEM for road and building improvements.

 

                     SECTION 2. That the Mayor is authorized to accept bids and award contracts for the improvements specified in Section 1

 

                     SECTION 3.                     That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw his or her warrant or warrants against the Account Code in Section 1 in payment of the above authorized obligations upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers

 

SECTION 4.                     That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that the same is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for further reason that the Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to allow the timely improvements to Forest Cemetery.
