Celebrating the University of Toledo’s 2022-2023 MAC Champions.
Summary
WHEREAS, the University of Toledo Women’s Cross-Country team won the 2022 Mid-American Conference Championship, its second consecutive league title, and went on to qualify for the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2014; and
WHEREAS, the University of Toledo Football Team won the 2022 Mid-American Conference Championship with a 17-7 victory over Ohio University, and went on to defeat Liberty in the Roofclaim.com Boca Raton Bowl, becoming the first Rocket team to win a MAC title and a bowl game in the same season since 2001; and
WHEREAS, the University of Toledo Women’s Basketball Team won the 2022-23 Mid-American Conference Championship regular season championship, for the second consecutive season; won the MAC Tournament crown, and went on to defeat No. 5 seed Iowa State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, becoming the first Rocket team to win an NCAA tournament game since 1996; and
WHEREAS, the University of Toledo Men’s Basketball Team won the 2022-23 Mid-American Conference Championship regular season championship for the third consecutive season, becoming the only current MAC school to win three straight crowns, and qualified for the National Invitation Tournament; and
WHEREAS, the University of Toledo became the first NCAA Division I-FBS school to win league titles in women’s cross country, football, women’s basketball and men’s basketball in a single season; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That we recognize the astounding accomplishments of the University of Toledo’s MAC Champions.
