Title

Authorizing the expenditure of an amount not to exceed $55,000 from the General Fund for medical screening services for the 2023 TPD wellness program; authorizing the Mayor to accept bids and award contracts; and declaring an emergency.

 

Body

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

This program will include medical evaluations of lipids, glucose, blood pressure, body mass, vascular scanning, fitness testing and instruction. A private one on one consultation in relation to the testing results will focus on areas of concern. Additionally, there will be presentations specific to police officers with regard to heart health, sleep, nutrition, and stress relief. There will be 40 training sessions at 8 hours per session scheduled through December 31, 2023.

 

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

           SECTION 1. That the amount not to exceed $55,000 is authorized for expenditure from the General Fund Account Code 1001-52000-3381002STDSTD for wellness medical screening services. 

 

SECTION 2.                       That the Mayor is authorized to accept bids and award contracts for the purposes specified in Section 1, upon terms and conditions acceptable to the Director of Police and the Director of Law.

 

                     SECTION 3. That the Finance Director is authorized to draw a warrant or warrants against the above referenced Account Code in Section 1 in payment of the obligation authorized in Section 2 and upon presentation of proper voucher or vouchers.

 

SECTION 4.  That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to timely provide fitness screenings for Toledo Police officers.
