Recognize the Glass City River Wall Team.
Summary
WHEREAS, an idea that came from a boat ride with friends on a beautiful night in the City of Toledo turned twenty-eight grain silos into the largest mural canvas in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the Glass City River Wall project was a multifaceted project and brought together people from across America including: Project Managers from Urban Sight, Christina Kasper and Nicole LeBoutillier; Designer/Artist, Gabe Gault; Installation Team Lead by Dean Davis and Eric Henn; Jason Boyer, ADM; and many more community members; and
WHEREAS, the Glass City River Wall is transformative for the Toledo region as the largest mural in the country and can be used as a template for other large-scale mural projects worldwide; and
WHEREAS, ADM or Archer Daniels Midland is a Chicago based corporation known as a global leader in nutrition; ADM partnered with the Glass City River Wall Steering Committee to promote cultural awareness and beautification and made the commitment to preserve and maintain the mural for future generations; and
WHEREAS, the Tnemec Company, Inc, was the provider of 3,500 gallons of paint utilized in the Glass City River Wall, the location came with some particular challenges including the environmental impact over spray could have on the river, the majority of the mural was painted with rollers to reduce any environmental damage; and
WHEREAS, the Toledo region has a strong history in agriculture with the native people being the original farmers of this land and that hard-working mentality runs deeply through those who now call the area home; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That we recognize the positive impact that art has on the world and continue to show our appreciation for the efforts of the Glass City River Wall team for their huge contribution.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
