Committing to Toledo citizens that Toledo City Council will conduct an independent investigation before any permanent action is taken toward the Toledo City Auditor; and declaring an emergency.
Summary
WHEREAS, the Toledo City Auditor was unilaterally suspended on October 26, 2022 by Council President Cherry and suspended by a vote of Toledo City Council on November 1, 2022; and
WHEREAS, an independent investigation into suspension of the Toledo City Auditor should take place before any permanent action is taken; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That Toledo City Council commits to conducting an independent, third-party investigation before any permanent action is taken toward the Toledo City Auditor.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property of the City, and for the further reason that this Resolution is required to be immediately effective in order to ensure an investigation before a permanent employee action is taken; wherefore, this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its adoption or at the earliest time allowed by law.
