SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Toledo Fire and Rescue Department's (TFRD) application for financial assistance submitted under the Fiscal Year 2022 Port Security Grant Program has been approved in the amount of $98,000. These funds will purchase a Mask Mounted Sonar device that will become a valuable life-saving asset to both local and regional citizenry in the search and rescue of submerged victims
As a condition of this award, the City of Toledo is required to contribute a 25% cost match in the estimated amount of $24,500 of non-Federal funds. This Ordinance requests appropriation of those funds now in order to timely begin procurement of the Mask Mounted Sonar. The Federal share is $73,500 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

NOW, THERFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. The Mayor is authorized to enter into agreements with and to accept and deposit a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) into Capital Improvement Fund Account Code 540G-53000-3G04534STDSTD in an amount not to exceed $73,500 to purchase Mask Mounted Sonar and related equipment for the Fire and Rescue Dive Team.
