SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

Ordinance 251-22 approved a seven (7) year lease agreement for the Division of Utilities Administration to lease administrative office and customer service space with the Ohio Bldg. Company Ltd., located at 420 Madison Avenue. This ordinance authorizes a one-year lease beginning September 1st 2022 for an additional 1,475 sq. ft. space to be used for the customer service walk in area located on the ground floor for customers to be able to come in person to pay their bills and ask questions about their account.

 

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo: 

 

SECTION 1. That the mayor is authorized to enter into a lease agreement with the Ohio Building Company, Ltd., for 1,475 square feet of customer service space in the Ohio Building located at 420 Madison Ave. for the Division of Utilities Administration for one year beginning September 1, 2022 and expiring on August 31, 2023, with an option to renew an additional year as outlined in the lease, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A.

 

SECTION 2. That the appropriation of $32,170 is authorized from the unappropriated balance of the Utility Administration fund to Account Codes 6078-31000-4000525STDSTD and 6078-31000-4000528STDSTD.

 

 SECTION 3. That the expenditure of funds pursuant to the lease agreement authorized in Section 1 is authorized from Account Codes 6078-31000-4000525STDSTD and 6078-31000-4000528STDSTD.

 

SECTION 4. That the Finance Director is authorized to draw their warrant or warrants against the Account Codes in Section 2 in an amount not to exceed those authorized above in payment of the above-authorized obligations upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

 

SECTION 5. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that same is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and for the further reason that the lease of said property will provide space for improved customer service access for walk-in services for utility customers.
