SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

The Division of Traffic Management /Traffic Signals Operations has six upcoming signal projects that require signal poles. Lead time on the poles has been four to five months after approval which delays projects. This Ordinance authorizes the expenditure from the Street Construction Maintenance and Repair Fund to pre-purchase the poles so projects can stay on schedule.

 

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

SECTION 1. That the expenditure of an amount not to exceed $160,000 is authorized from the Street Construction Maintenance and Repair Fund Account Code 2014-22500-2413002STDSTD for the purchase of traffic signal poles.

 

SECTION 2. That the mayor is authorized to accept bids and award contracts for the purposes specified in Section 1 above.  All contract terms and conditions shall be subject to approval by the Director of Transportation and the Director of Law.

 

SECTION 3.  That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw their warrant or warrants against the account code in Section 1 above in an amount not to exceed $160,000 in payment of the above-authorized obligations upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

 

SECTION 4.                     That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage.  The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to facilitate this work beginning early this year to meet completion deadlines.
