Title

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

The City of Toledo has a number of motor vehicles and equipment which have been and are expected to be retired from service and are not needed for any public purpose and various city unneeded salvage. The sale of such motor vehicles, equipment, and various city unneeded salvage at public auctions, would benefit the City of Toledo. The Division of Facility and Fleet Operations and the Division of Purchasing are responsible for the disposal of motor vehicles, equipment, and various city unneeded salvage and requires the services of a professional auctioneer to advertise, organize, and conduct said public auctions. 

 

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

                        SECTION 1.                     That the Mayor is authorized to declare retired motor vehicles and associated equipment and various city unneeded salvage to the City of Toledo and to determine the number of vehicles and unneeded salvage to be sold at public auction.

 

SECTION 2.                      That the Mayor is authorized to sell at public auctions, City of Toledo motor vehicles, associated equipment and various city unneeded salvage.

 

                       SECTION 3. That the payment for said auction services shall be made from the proceeds of the motor vehicles and associated equipment and unneeded salvage at an agreed upon commission rate, and the balance of the proceeds shall be deposited into Fleet Operations Account Code 7086-25000-1146001STDSTD.

 

                        SECTION 4. That the Director of Finance is authorized to make such expenditures and deposits from and/or to the funds herein identified as may be required to effectuate the purposes of this Ordinance.

 

                      SECTION 5. That this Ordinance, being an emergency measure, shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that the Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and property and for the further reason that the Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to maximize the proceeds from the sale of municipally-owned motor vehicles and equipment.
