Recognizing the North End Community Committee.
Summary
WHEREAS, the North End Community Committee (NECC) is a local non-profit 501c3 organization with a demonstrated history of empowering families and youth in the North-end community of the City of Toledo. The NECC has become a community brand and is well known to neighbors near and around Wilson Park where its grass roots efforts began; and
WHERAS, the NECC is unique and extra special because the founders are comprised of 13 committed African-American adult men who currently live, or previously lived, in the North End area of Toledo near Wilson Park and together, these "ordinary" citizens have turned casual meetings for fun and fellowship into a functioning 501c3 organization; and
WHEREAS, their organization's mission, in part, is to give back to our community and make the North End of Toledo a safer and more desirable place to live, and the NECC strives to give back to their beloved North End community by providing positive contributions out of their love and concern through initiatives and events that include the Stickney Style Rib-Off, Book Bag Give-Aways, Trunk or Treat events, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk, a Summer Youth Golf Camp and the Boarder Watch Party; and
WHERAS, the NECC is proud to partner with the City of Toledo, Connecting Kids with Meals, McDivot's Golf Range, United Vision Church, One Village Council and the Toledo Neighborhood Capacity Building Institute (The Barthwell Group), in bringing programming, training, community events and structure to the youth of North Toledo, and providing leverage to acquire additional resources for their community; NOW THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the city of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the North End Community Committee (NECC) is hereby recognized and celebrated for their commitment to community.
