Officially renaming the City park located at 931 Hawley Street and currently known as "Boss Park" to "Honorable Myron Duhart Park".
Summary
WHEREAS, the Honorable Myron Duhart grew up directly across the street from this park and the Frederick Douglas Community Center and spent many hours there, as well as eventually serving as a Board member to the Center; and
WHEREAS, Judge Duhart is living proof you can rise above any challenges and become a positive force in your community; after serving his Country, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Army Judge Advocate General Corps, (JAG); and
WHEREAS, as a graduate, a veteran, an attorney and a family man, the Honorable Myron Duhart, demonstrates in his life the change he wishes to see in the world; stating "I am just a Judge, but never Judgmental" applying the law equally to all; and
WHEREAS, his Honor received his JD from the University of Toledo, and an LLM in Judicial Studies from Duke University of Law and attended the Harvard Kennedy school of Government; he has served on numerous boards serving his community and received many awards for giving back, he serves; he continues to lead with humility, perspective and purpose; and
WHEREAS, the neighborhood will be invited to an annual festival within the park to honor those young people who desire to be the change; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that the City of Toledo recognize the Honorable Myron Duhart by naming the park currently known as Boss Park in his honor; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That as a tribute to and in honor of the Honorable Myron Duhart's commitment to the families and youth of city of Toledo, the Council of the City of Toledo does hereby officially rename the City park located at 931 Hawley Street and currently known as "Boss Park" to "Honorable Myron Duhart Park."
