SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
Ten-year-old Damia Ezell was the victim of a shooting that occurred on February 12, 2022, on Collingwood Boulevard. Tragically, Damia did not survive. City Council desires to appropriate $10,000 for a Crime Stoppers reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the appropriation of $10,000 is authorized from the unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account Code 1001- 52000-3381002STDSTD for a reward for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible for the shooting death of Damia Ezell on Saturday, February 12, 2022.
SECTION 2. That the expenditure of funds to Crime Stoppers is authorized from the above-listed Account Code in the event that Crime Stoppers confirms that a reward will be made.
SECTION 3. That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw warrant or warrants against the above account code in an amount not to exceed $10,000 in payment of the above authorized obligations upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.
SECTION 4. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to provide a timely reward for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible ...
