SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The State of Ohio enacted a mandatory advanced training program for Ohio Peace Officers in 2022. Since this training is required by OPOTC the Toledo Police Department will be reimbursed $234,601.80 for wages. The training subjects include use of force, pursuits, wellness, mental health, domestic violence and diversity.
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to accept and deposit 2022 Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission training wages cost reimbursement from the State of Ohio in the amount of $234,601.80 to General Fund Account Code 1001-52000-3381002STDSTD.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property, and to provide continuing professional training to Toledo Police Officers.
