Recognize Dan Desmond on the occasion of his retirement after 32 years with Toledo Fire and Rescue and Local 92.
Summary
WHEREAS, Dan Desmond began his career with the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department over 32 years ago, on September 22, 1989; was appointed to Fire Station No. 6 from 1991 through 2018 as a firefighter, paramedic and instructor; and
WHEREAS, Dan served as Vice President of Toledo Firefighters Local 92 for seven years before being chosen as its President in 2019, representing more than 500 firefighters, paramedics and EMTs; and
WHEREAS, as President of Local 92, Dan has fought hard for his union members on critical issues of staffing, safety and contract negotiation; and
WHEREAS, he has served as a Trustee of the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund from 2014 through 2020, twice serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees; and
WHEREAS, Dan is wished many years of good health and happiness throughout his retirement and the best of luck on his future endeavors; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That Dan Desmond is hereby recognized and honored for his years of outstanding dedicated service to the City of Toledo, its citizen, and the Department of Fire and Rescue Operations and its members.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
