Recognizing November 27, 2021 as Small Business Saturday and supporting awareness of the value of our small businesses.
Summary
WHEREAS, Toledo City Council joins the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce in celebrating our local small businesses and the contributions they make to Toledo; and
WHEREAS, in our region there are about 46,300 businesses with fewer than 100 employees according to most recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau; and
WHEREAS, nationally there are 32.5 million small businesses which employ 46.8 percent of America’s private workforce according to the U.S. Small Business Administration; and
WHEREAS, small businesses throughout our nation and region have shown resiliency through enduring many challenges and should be recognized for their efforts; and
WHEREAS, small businesses often offer many unique products and services, as well as local crafts and specialties; and
WHEREAS, small businesses are the backbone of our communities and contribute by providing goods, creating jobs, and supporting the overall health of our economy; and
WHEREAS, businesses, public entities and other organizations across the nation have established the Saturday after Thanksgiving as Small Business Saturday; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That Toledo City Council does hereby recognize November 27, 2021 as Small Business Saturday and urge the residents of Toledo to support small businesses on Small Business Saturday and throughout the year.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
