SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
This ordinance authorizes the appropriation and expenditure of $105,000 from capital improvement funds for the purchase of 130 ballistic vests for the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department. This purchase will be made after competitive bidding.

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the sum of $105,000 is hereby appropriated from the unappropriated balance of the Capital Improvement Fund to Account Code 5040-53000-8CP2143FIRVST for the purchase of 130 ballistic vests for the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department, and further authorizing expenditure of the same.

SECTION 2. That the Mayor and the Commissioner or Purchases and Supplies are authorized to accept bids and award contracts necessary for the purposes specified in Section 1.

SECTION 3. That the Finance Director is authorized to draw warrant or warrants against the above referenced Account Code in payment of the obligation authorized in Section 1 herein, and upon presentation of proper voucher or vouchers.

SECTION 4. That all formal actions concerning and relating to the passage of this Ordinance were passed in an open meeting of this Council, and that all deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
