Title
Authorizing the appropriation and expenditure of $3,000 from the General Fund for the re-masking of tennis courts to dual purpose tennis courts/pickleball courts; and declaring an emergency.

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
In the City of Toledo's collection of 129 parks, there are 15 parks with tennis courts. While tennis has been a popular sport for many people in our community, the sport of Pickleball has been increasing in popularity since its creation in 1965 and most especially in the last ten years. With the increased interest in Pickleball in the nation and the ability to engage more people in outdoor sports like Pickleball on the same amount of space as current tennis courts now use, it is an optimal time to convert a selection of tennis courts to multi-use spaces for the enjoyment of the community.
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the appropriation of $3,000 is authorized from the unappropriated balance of the General Fund to Account Code 1001-60300-700315-STDSTD for the re-masking of Tennis Courts at Copland, Foxglove, and Harry Kessler parks.
SECTION 2. That the amount of $3,000 is authorized for expenditure from the General Fund, Account Code 1001-60300-700315-STDSTD for the re-masking of Tennis Courts at Copland, Foxglove, and Harry Kessler parks in the City of Toledo parks system.
SECTION 3. That the Mayor is authorized to accept bids and award contracts for the purposes specified in Section 1.
SECTION 4. That the Finance Director is authorized to draw warrant or warrants against the Account Code in Section 1 in payment of the above obligations authorized upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers in an amount not to exceed $3,000.
