SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

Ohio Emergency Management Agency has awarded the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department a Statewide Search and Rescue (Water) Capability grant not to exceed Four Thousand Seven Hundred dollars ($4,700). The purpose of this grant is to support search & rescue throughout the state by administering & maintaining the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Emergency Response Plan/System which is one of the key dispatching capabilities for search and rescue teams in Ohio.

 

These funds are to be utilized to continue to build and sustain the collapse search and rescue capability, including cost associated with team administration, equipment, expendable material and supply purchases, vehicles, equipment maintenance, exercising and training.

 

The fiscal impact of this ordinance is as follows:

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

SECTION 1.  That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a grant agreement and to accept and deposit grant funds from the Ohio Emergency Management Agency in an amount not to exceed $4,700 into the Operations Grant Fund Account Code 2016-53000-3G00408STDSTD to support search & rescue throughout the state by administering & maintaining the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Emergency Response Plan/System.

 

SECTION 2.  That the amount of $4,700 is appropriated from the unappropriated grant proceeds of the Operation Grants Fund to Account Code 2016-53000-3G00408STDSTD and the expenditure of same is authorized for the purposes specified in Section 1.

 

SECTION 3.  That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw warrant or warrants against the above Account Code in an amount not to exceed $4,700 in payment of the above authorized obligations upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

 

SECTION 4.  That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage.  The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to timely administer the grant funds and to support the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Emergency Response Plan/System.
