SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Division of Streets, Bridges & Harbor (SB&H) is responsible for maintenance and repair of all streets within the City of Toledo. Crack sealing is the most efficient way to provide maintenance to streets at the lowest cost of any method and can extend the life of a roadway for several years before major work is required. The City of Toledo has conducted minor crack sealing programs in the past, averaging 90 lane miles a year. The City of Toledo will contract out major arterial roads while Division of Streets, Bridges & Harbor crews will crack seal residential and minor arterial streets. The Division of Streets, Bridges & Harbor has $250,000 in its existing 2021 operating budget, appropriated by Ordinance 36-21 from the SCM&R Fund for 2021 Crack Sealing.
