SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

The ball field complex at Detwiler Park has long been the site of a robust schedule of baseball tournaments and ongoing competitive play.  Over the years, field 4, closest to Mud Creek, has consistently experienced long periods of flooding. These funds will provide for the installation of a drainage system to prevent flooding and allow for regular play on this field all season long.

 

The fiscal impact of this Ordinance is as follows:

Summary

NOW THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

SECTION 1.  That the amount of $75,000 is authorized for expenditure from the Capital Improvement Fund, Account Code 5040-60300-8CP2001BALLFD for improvements at the Detwiler Park ball field.

 

SECTION 2.  That the Mayor is authorized to accept the bids and award contracts for the purposes specified in Section 1, upon terms and conditions acceptable to the Directors of Public Service and Law.

 

                     SECTION 3.  That the Finance Director is authorized to draw his warrant or warrants against the account code in Section 1, in payment of the above authorized obligations in an amount not to exceed $75,000 upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

 

 

SECTION 4.  That this Ordinance, being an emergency measure, shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that the Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and so that this ball field  revitalization work may continue to the benefit of the community.
