SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Toledo Fire and Rescue Department requests authorization to purchase much needed portable radios due to the fact that as of December 2018, the department’s current radios are no longer supported by the manufacturer.
The fiscal impact of this ordinance is as follows:

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the amount of $165,000 is authorized for expenditure from the Capital Improvement Fund, Account Code 5040-53000-8CP2121FIRRAD for the purchase of portable radios.
SECTION 2. That the Mayor is authorized to accept bids and award contracts necessary to complete the purchase. Said contracts shall contain such terms and conditions as the Mayor may deem requisite and proper and shall be subject to approval by the Department of Law and the Director of Fire.
SECTION 3. That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw warrant or warrants against the Account Code above in an amount not to exceed $165,000 in payment of the obligations authorized above upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.
SECTION 4. That this Ordinance, being an emergency measure, shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that the ordinance is necessary to ensure that the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department has updated vital radio equipment and is able obtain communication equipment supported by the manufacturer.
