SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The City of Toledo Department of Neighborhoods submitted an application and received an award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control for lead-based paint hazard control in residential properties. This program assists units of local government in undertaking comprehensive programs to identify and control lead-based paint hazards in eligible privately owned rental or owner-occupied housing.

The financial impact of this Ordinance is the receipt of $5,700,000 from HUD to the City of Toledo for the Department of Neighborhoods to administer the Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Program Grant to make homes lead safe.

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to accept a grant from the HUD Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control in an amount not to exceed $5,700,000; deposit $5,000,000 into Account Code 2016-16200-5GL7010STDLBP for lead hazard control and deposit $700,000 into Account Code 2016-16200-5GL7010STDLHH for a healthy homes supplemental received from HUD for the purpose of funding and implementing the Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Program.

SECTION 2. That the appropriation in the amount of $5,000,000 for lead hazard control is authorized from the unappropriated grant proceeds in the Operations Grants Fund into Account Code 2016-16200-5GL7010STDLBP and $700,000 for a healthy homes supplemental into Account Code 2016-16200-5GL7010STDLHH; and f...
