Body
SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The City of Toledo has been working with Libbey Glass Inc. on upgrading the fire suppression system at its manufacturing facility on Ash Street. The overall $535,000 upgrade project will modernize the plant's fire suppression system by improving the flow of water to the facility's pump house. This project will result in the retention of 500 permanent full-time equivalent jobs.

As part of the upgrade project, a new 12-inch waterline will be constructed on Champlain Street between Buckeye Street and Ash Street. The proposed approximately 800 linear foot waterline will increase the pressure and flow of water serving the facility. The proposed new waterline will also be interconnected with the adjacent neighborhood and improve the fire flow and redundancy in water supply to the neighborhood. The proposed waterline will be located in the public rights-of-way and owned by the City of Toledo.
