Title

Authorizing the expenditure of and amount not to exceed $100,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund for the repair and restoration of basketball courts at various City of Toledo parks; authorizing the mayor to accept bids and enter into agreements for said purpose; and declaring an emergency.

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

Toledo City Parks are home to more than 40 half and full basketball courts.  These courts are vitally important to the residents of neighborhoods where they reside, and receive significant usage.  Many of the courts are in need of either complete reconstruction or a more simple process of resurfacing.  This restoration project will restore the playability of these courts for all to enjoy.  The amount of $100,000 has been appropriated with the approved 2020 CIP budget.

 

The fiscal impact of this Ordinance is as follows:

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

SECTION 1.  That an expenditure in an amount not to exceed $100,000 is authorized from the Capital Improvement Fund, Account Code 5040-60300-8CP2002CRTSUR, for the repair and restoration of the basketball courts at various City of Toledo Parks.

 

SECTION 2.  That the mayor is authorized to accept bids and enter into contracts after due advertising for the purposes necessary to carry out said project upon such terms and conditions are deemed requisite and proper by the Director of Law and the Director of Public Service.

 

                     SECTION 3.  That the Finance Director is authorized to draw warrant or warrants against the account code in Section 1 above, in payment of the above obligations authorized upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

 

SECTION 4.  That this Ordinance, being an emergency measure, shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that the Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and for the further reason of allowing the contracts to be executed so the work can be completed with the least amount of disruption to the park’s accessibility for the community.
