Title
Authorizing the expenditure of $19,500 from the Capital Improvement Fund for the purchase of an under carriage washer for the department’s fire emergency vehicles; authorizing the mayor to accept bids and award contracts for said purchase; and declaring an emergency.
Body
SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
Toledo Fire & Rescue is requesting the expenditure of $19,500 from the Capital Improvement Fund for the purchase of an under carriage washer. The purchase of an under carriage washer will fight against frame corrosion damage to our fire/emergency vehicles due to winter salt and chemicals placed on the roads. The department has experienced downtime from much needed fire apparatus being placed out of service due to cracked frames and severe corrosion damage.
This under carriage washer will allow our trucks to pass over and receive a thorough wash to the underside to help remove salt, chemicals, and other debris that can possibly cause damage to the underbody.
