SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
This ordinance authorizes the total expenditure of $168,000 for Motorola Solutions, Inc. portable police radios. Motorola Solutions, Inc. is the sole source supplier for police radio communication equipment for the City of Toledo. The 42 new portable police radios are needed to replace aging equipment.

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the mayor is authorized to enter into an agreement with Motorola Solutions, Inc. for the purchase of 42 Motorola portable police radios.
SECTION 2. That an expenditure in an amount not to exceed $168,000 is authorized from the 2020 Capital Improvements Fund, Account Code 5040-52000-8CP2025POLRAD, for the purchase of Motorola portable police radios.
SECTION 3. That this Council finds it in the best interest of the city to waive the competitive bidding requirements of Toledo Municipal Code Chapter 187 for the reason that Motorola Solutions Inc. is the sole-source provider for Motorola communication equipment.
SECTION 4. That the Finance Director is authorized to draw her warrant or warrants against the above referenced Account Codes in payment of the above-authorized obligation and upon presentation of proper voucher or vouchers.
SECTION 5. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and for the further reason of timely and necessary replacement of aging radio equipment.
