Recognizing the valiant efforts of Sgt. Paul Cunningham in saving the life of a 3-year-old boy and further recognizing the EMT training for both police officers and fire fighters.
Summary
WHEREAS, on August 4, Sgt. Paul Cunningham was called to an East Toledo home where a 3-year-old boy had just been pulled from a swimming pool and wasn’t breathing; and
WHEREAS, Sgt. Cunningham immediately performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to open the airway and the boy began breathing again; and
WHEREAS, Sgt. Cunningham has taken CPR refresher courses every year as a police officer; and
WHEREAS, City Council desires to recognize the valiant efforts of Sgt. Paul Cunningham and also recognizes the EMT COHORT program that for the past 5 years has been collaborating with partners at Toledo Police, Toledo Fire & Rescue, Toledo Public Schools, and Owens Community College; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That Toledo City Council recognizes the courageous and determined efforts of Sgt. Paul Cunningham in saving the life of a 3-year-old boy and further recognizing the EMT COHORT program with collaborating partners Toledo Police, Toledo Fire & Rescue, Toledo Public Schools, and Owens Community College.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
