Title

Authorizing the appropriation and expenditure of an amount up to $120,000 from the unappropriated balance of the Municipal Garage Fund for equipment used for repairs of various city of Toledo department vehicles and for equipment used by the division of Streets, Bridges & Harbor; and declaring an emergency.

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

In March and November of 2018, and November of 2019, Fleet Operations held auctions for City of Toledo vehicles and equipment. All revenue was deposited to the original fund of purchase. As a result, $296,630 was deposited to the Municipal Garage Fund. Fleet Operations would like to utilize $40,000 of these funds to replace mechanical lift equipment used to repair and maintain city department vehicles. Of the $296,630 deposited to the Municipal Garage Fund, $154,400 was from the sale of Streets, Bridges & Harbor vehicles and equipment. Streets, Bridges & Harbor would like to utilize $80,000 of these funds to replace a 1993 forklift and purchase an additional forklift for the division.

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

                                                                                                         

                                                                                                         SECTION 1.                      That the appropriation of $120,000 is authorized from the unappropriated balance of the Municipal Garage Fund to account code 7086-25000-1146001STDSTD.

 

                                                                                                         SECTION 2.                                          That an expenditure of $120,000 is authorized from the Municipal Garage Fund, Account Code 7086-25000-1146001STDSTD, for the purchase of two forklifts for the division of Streets, Bridges & Harbor and the purchase of mechanical lifts and equipment for the division of Fleet.

 

                                                                                                         SECTION 3. That the mayor is authorized to accept bids and award contracts for the purposes specified in Section 2.

 

SECTION 4.                      That the Finance Director is authorized to draw warrant or warrants against the proper appropriation from available funds in payment of all obligations created by this ordinance upon presentation of proper voucher or vouchers.

 

                     SECTION 5.                      That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that the same is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for further reason that the Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to allow the timely replacement of aging fleet and equipment.

 

                     Vote on emergency clause:  yeas 8, nays 0.
