SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
Every year, the Division of Streets, Bridges & Harbor includes, in its annual CIP fund request, a line item for Matches and Planning. This line item represents the amount of funding that is needed in order to supply match amounts for outside grants and loans the Division has anticipated and secured, as well as to plan for future large scale projects with design, testing, and environmental work. Some of these bridge projects include, but are not limited to, Maumee over Norfolk Southern Railroad, Marengo over Ravine, and Secor over Ottawa River. It is imperative that the Division of Streets, Bridges & Harbor's Matches and Planning Program be authorized immediately, as there are strict deadlines for planning, design, environmental, bid, and construction associated with each grant fund source.
