SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

Ohio Emergency Management Agency has awarded the Toledo Fire and Rescue department a Statewide Search and Rescue (Water) Capability grant not to exceed Six Thousand dollars ($6,000). The purpose of this grant is to support search & rescue throughout the state by administering and maintaining the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Emergency Response Plan/System which is one of the key dispatching capabilities for search and rescue teams in Ohio.

 

These funds are to be utilized to continue to build and sustain the collapse search and rescue capability, including cost associated with team administration, equipment, expendable material and supply purchases, vehicles, equipment maintenance, exercising and training.

 

The fiscal impact of this ordinance is as follows:

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

SECTION 1.  That the mayor is authorized to enter into a grant agreement with the Ohio Emergency Management Agency for the support of search & rescue throughout the state by administering & maintaining the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Emergency Response Plan/System.

 

SECTION 2.  That the mayor is authorized to accept and deposit grant proceeds in the amount of $6,000.00 into the Operation Grants Fund, Account Code 2016-53000-3G00158 STDSTD, for the purpose listed in Section 1.

 

SECTION 3.  That the sum of $6.000 is appropriated from the unappropriated grant proceeds of the Operation Grants Fund to Account Code 2016-53000-3G00158STDSTD; and further authorizing the expenditure of same for the purpose listed in Section 1.

 

 

SECTION 4.  That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw his warrant or warrants against the above listed account code in an amount not to exceed $6,000.00 in payment of the above authorized obligations upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

 

SECTION 5.  That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage.  The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and for the further reason of timely administering and maintaining the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Emergency Response Plan/System.

 

                     Vote on emergency clause:  yeas 11  nays 0.
