SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

Ord. 360-19 authorized the Mayor to implement a Better Board Up Program through the Department of Neighborhood and Business Development, for securing vacant structures and preserving the integrity of our neighborhoods, even pending demolitions.  Funds are available from abandoned accounts in the Ohio Demo Trust Fund (aka Fire Escrow) after transferring abandoned accounts to the General Fund and further transferring said funds to the Nuisance Abatement Trust Fund.

 

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

                     SECTION 1.  That the Mayor is authorized to transfer $75,000 from the Ohio Demo Trust Fund (aka Fire Escrow) abandoned accounts 8096-220666 to the General Fund 1001-10100-408690.

 

SECTION 2.  That the Mayor is authorized to appropriate $75,000 in the General Fund 1001-10100-558100 and further authorized to transfer said funds to the Nuisance Abatement Trust Fund 2090-16100-556580.

 

SECTION 3.  That the Mayor is authorized to expend $75,000 in the Nuisance Abatement Trust Fund for the Better Board Up Program.

 

SECTION 4. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for the further reason that this ordinance must be immediately effective in order to provide funds for the Better Board Up Program.
