SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:                     

This ordinance authorizes the expenditure of $25,000 for the YWCA of Northwest Ohio education initiative.  The plan is to engage senior leadership employed by the City of Toledo in an initiative to address diversity and inclusion. This will be completed through racial justice workshops, Dialogue to Change sessions and book discussions. The YWCA will work hand in hand with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion in this endeavor. The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

The fiscal impact of this ordinance is as follows:

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

                     SECTION 1.                     That an expenditure in the amount of $25,000 is authorized from the General Fund, Account Code 1001-10200-1181001STDSTD, for the purpose of funding the YWCA of Northwest Ohio’s education initiative.

                                          

SECTION 2.                      That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw his warrant or warrants against the above referenced Account Code in an amount not to exceed $25,000 in payment of the obligations authorized above upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

 

SECTION 3. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.  The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for the further reason that this ordinance must be immediately effective in order to timely provide support for the YWCA of Northwest Ohio’s education initiative.

 

                     Vote on emergency clause:  yeas 12, nays 0.
