SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The YMCA of Greater Toledo approached the city with a request to identify a landmark that could be named after Toledoan Paul William Alexander, the founder of the Y's Men International (YMI). The YMI is recognized globally as a service organization promoting cultural awareness leading to brotherhood and world peace. Superior Park was chosen for the renaming because it is in close proximity to the home where Mr. Alexander was raised.
The fiscal impact of this ordinance is as follows:

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the City Council does declare Superior Park located at 1221 North Superior Street in the City of Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio, be designated and named Paul William Alexander Park.

SECTION 2. That the proper City officials are authorized to execute such instruments, documents and certifications and to take such other actions that may be necessary or appropriate in connection with the full implementation of Section 1.
