Recognizing the signing of the Sister Cities Agreement between Coburg, Germany, and the City of Toledo.
Summary
WHEREAS, the City of Toledo, Ohio and Coburg, Germany, through Toledo Sister Cities International have committed human and tangible resources to assure on-going collaboration in cultural exchange, education, music, art, and economic development; and
WHEREAS, the City of Toledo and Coburg, Germany, executed a Friendship City Agreement in 2018 as a means of formalizing their commitment to friendship and business enhancement; and
WHEREAS, following the 2018 visit to Coburg, Germany, of a delegation of Toledo Sister Cities leadership from the German Sister Cities Sponsorship Committee and Toledo Sister Cities International Board representatives along with the performances of the Greater Toledo International Youth Orchestra in Coburg, it was concluded that elevating the stature of the existing Friendship City Agreement to a full Sister Cities status was in order; and
WHEREAS, the city of Coburg, Germany has sponsored a delegation of municipal, government, education, and business leadership to further explore the educational, cultural, recreational, and economic development assets of Toledo, Ohio; and
WHEREAS, municipal government officials of Coburg, Germany, the Mayor of Toledo, and the President of Toledo City Council have now executed a full Sister Cities Agreement to formalize their continued collaboration and engagement in a range of cultural and business initiatives between Toledo, Ohio U.S.A. and Coburg, Germany; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Toledo City Council supports the goals and development plans of the Toledo, Ohio-Coburg, Germany Sister City Agreement and will be cooperative with Toledo Sister Cities International to assure that Toledo, Ohio U.S.A. and Coburg, Germany, prosper in fri...
