SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

The purpose of this legislation is to allow the Toledo Police Department to purchase mobile data terminals (MDT) for police vehicles.  This ordinance authorizes expending $98,369.26 from the approved 2018 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) budget as well as $293,988.83 from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund. This purchase is being made pursuant to Ohio state-term contract #STS534363. The MDT’s are for 15 new vehicles and to replace 53 additional MDT’s which are obsolete and will no longer be functional as of January 1, 2020.

 

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

SECTION 1.  That the mayor is authorized to enter into an agreement for the purchase of mobile data terminals for police vehicles.

 

                     SECTION 2.                     That an amount not to exceed $98,369.26 is authorized for expenditure from the Capital Improvement Fund, Account Code 5040-52000-8CP1819POLVEH and an amount not to exceed $293,988.83 is authorized for expenditure from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Account Code 2090-52000-3T32302STDSLC, for the purchase of mobile data terminals.

 

                     SECTION 3.  That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw his warrant or warrants against the above account codes in payment of the above authorized obligations in an amount not to exceed that authorized in Section 2 upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

 

                     SECTION 4.  That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage.  The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and for the further reason to support timely replacement of obsolete equipment for the Police Department.
