SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Toledo Police Department has developed a successful Police Athletic League (PAL) program at 1111 E. Manhattan Blvd. The property is the former Leverette Middle School which was purchased by the City of Toledo on September 2, 2015 from the Toledo Board of Education for the sum of zero dollars. PAL has been operating at this location since 2016.

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the mayor is authorized to enter into a five-year lease agreement with the Toledo Lucas County Police Athletic League, under terms and conditions deemed appropriate by the mayor, director of police operations, and the director of law and to accept and deposit $1 per year into the General Fund, Account Code 1001-52000-3381002STDSTD.

SECTION 2. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property, and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to continue the PAL program.
