SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
This Ordinance authorizes the reappropriation of funds within the Toledo City Council budget. Funds are available in the City Council personnel services budget for summer internship positions through the City’s collaboration with the University of Toledo and the Toledo Talent Makes Toledo Great Program. Interns hired through this program remain independent contractors and as such must be paid from a contractual services account. This Ordinance reduces the personnel services budget and increases contractual services to fund the summer internships.
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the disappropriation of $26,820 is authorized from the General Fund personnel services Account Code 1001-10100-1112001STDSTD (personnel services) and the appropriation of $26,820 is authorized to the General Fund Account Code 1001-10100-537410-1112001STDSTD (contractual services) in order to fund summer internships through the Toledo Talent Keeps Toledo Great Program, and the expenditure of same is authorized.
SECTION 2. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to timely engage University of Toledo students for summer internships.
