Recognizing Ed Heintschel retiring as Head Basketball Coach of St. John's Jesuit High School.
Summary
WHEREAS, Mr. Ed Heintschel is retiring from coaching basketball after 40 seasons and one of the winningest careers in Ohio by any boys basketball coach; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Heintschel was a committed educator and coach who spent his whole career at St. John's and was respected for his ability to connect with kids on and off the court; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Heintschel caught the bug to coach after his second season of coaching brought 17 victories and St. John's first City League title; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Heintschel had many exciting seasons coaching the Titans, his record includes: Division I state runner-up, Division I state semifinalist, 16 district titles, 17 league titles, and being the fourth winningest coach in Ohio with a record of 725-224; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Heintschel left such an impression on his students that many came back for the announcement of his retirement; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Heintschel's plan for his retirement is to spend more time with his children and grandchildren and to continue to support his former players as they continue their basketball careers in college and that we recognize the distinguished career and positive impact that Mr. Ed Heintschel had on so many students and players throughout his career, and we wish him well in his retirement; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That we recognize the distinguished career and positive impact that Mr. Ed Heintschel had on so many students and players throughout his career, and we wish him well in his retirement.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
