SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Toledo Police Department has developed a successful School Resource Officer program, which assigns an officer to a school. St. Patrick of Heatherdowns School has agreed to provide an amount of $36,210.84 to fund a School Resource Officer for the 2019-2020 school years. That amount represents one-half the salary and benefits of the officer assigned to St. Patrick of Heatherdowns School for the school year (nine months).
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the mayor is authorized to enter into an agreement with St. Patrick of Heatherdowns School to provide a School Resource Officer for the 2019-2020 school year, under terms and conditions deemed appropriate by the Mayor, Director of Police Operations, and the Director of Law.
SECTION 2. That the mayor is authorized to accept and deposit $36,210.84 into the General Fund, Account Code 1001-52000-3381002STDSTD.
SECTION 3. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and for the further reason of timely placement of a resource officer for school safety.
