Recognizing Deontae and Deontre Wright as Valedictorian and Salutatorian of their senior class.
Summary
WHEREAS, Scott High School students Deontae and Deontre Wright, identical twins, grew up on Fulton Street in central Toledo and will graduate as valedictorian and salutatorian of their senior class; and
WHEREAS, the brothers currently attend Toledo Public Schools’ advanced manufacturing classes which assists with their accomplishments, however, it is their inner drive that keeps them focused; and
WHEREAS, as first-generation college students, Deontae and Deontre have prepared for college since sixth grade with the encouragement of both parents as they desired their sons to have an excellent education; and
WHEREAS, both twins secured full ride scholarships through the Young Scholars Program to attend The Ohio State University where they will study electrical engineering with a minor in business with a goal of owning their own electrical engineering firm; and
WHEREAS, in addition to their educational achievements, the twins each have held two jobs and have completed over 70 hours of community service; and
WHEREAS, while Deontae’s dream is to create avenues that allow others to pursue a career in engineering; Deontre is inspired to empower his community through ingenuity; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That Toledo City Council recognizes Deontae and Deontre Wright for being motivated no matter what the obstacle is, no matter what the challenge is, and for staying motivated throughout their whole journey so far and for striving to reach their goals.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
