SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
Toledo City Council has requested that the city install LED street lighting on Machen Street at the alley between Putnam Street and Warren Street to protect and provide nighttime safety to area residents. The total annual cost for the operation and maintenance of the lighting is $111.48 of which the City’s share is $111.48 to be paid from the General Fund utilities account.
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That it is necessary to improve the following lots and lands by installing street lighting, as described below:
A. Machen Street at alley between Putnam Street and Warren Street by installing one (1) 90-watt, LED cobra style streetlight on wood pole with overhead service.
SECTION 2. That the plans, specifications and estimates for this proposed improvement on file in the Division of Engineering Services are approved.
SECTION 3. That the cost and expense of said improvement together with damages, if any, awarded to the owner or owners of adjoining lands with interest thereon, and the costs and expenses of any such award shall be paid from the General Fund, Account Code 1001-11200-2424004STDSTD, by the city in a manner provided by law.
SECTION 4. That notice of the adoption of this resolution shall be by publication in the Toledo City Journal in the manner provided by law.
SECTION 5. That this resolution is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that the same is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property and for the further reason that this resolution must be immediately effective in order to expedite the installation of street lighting.
