Title

Declaring it necessary to improve Collingwood Avenue, between Nesslewood Avenue and Winthrop Street by installing twenty-one (21) street lights; and declaring an emergency.

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

The city has received numerous complaints regarding the absence of lighting on Collingwood Avenue, between Nesslewood Avenue to Winthrop Street. This legislation proposes to install twenty-one (21) streetlights to better illuminate this area.

 

The annual cost of this improvement is $5,154 along with a one-time installation cost of $42,337 which will be paid from the General Fund.

 

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

                     SECTION 1.                     That it is necessary to improve the following intersection by installing street lighting, as described below.

 

A.                      Collingwood Avenue, between Nesslewood Avenue and Winthrop Street by installing twenty-one (21) 50 watt LED Acorn Style streetlights on fiberglass poles with underground service in accordance with plans, specifications, and estimates heretofore approved and on file in the Office of Engineering Services.

 

                     SECTION 2.  That the plans, specifications and estimates for this proposed improvement are approved and will be filed at the Division of Engineering Services Street Lighting Section.

 

                     SECTION 3. That the annual cost and expense of said improvement, together with damages, if any, awarded to the owner of adjoining lands, with interest thereon, and the costs and expenses of any such award, shall be paid from the General Fund, Account Code 1001-11200-2424004STDSTD, by the city in a manner provided by law.

 

                     SECTION 4. That notice of the adoption of this resolution shall be by publication in the Toledo City Journal in the manner provided by law. 

           

            SECTION 5. That this resolution is declared to be an emergency measure, and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage.  The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this resolution is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and for the further reason that this resolution must be immediately effective in order to expedite the installation of street lighting.
