Recognizing El Corazon de Mexico Ballet Folklorico.
Summary
WHEREAS, El Corazon de Mexico Ballet Folklorico has been a safe haven for the youth and young adults of South Toledo for over twenty years; and
WHEREAS, El Corazon de Mexico Ballet Folklorico was honored to travel to Disney over the New Year Holiday to perform at Disney Springs on January 2, 2019; and
WHEREAS, under the direction of Elaina Hernandez and assistant director Kathleen Flynn, twenty-six dancers, including Vanessa Hernandez, Joaquin Hernandez, Marcus Flynn, Kathryn Sholl, Cecilia Sholl, Salma Montantes, Miguel Montantes, Nahima Juares, Xelha Velazquez, Osvaldo Ramirez, Amelia Salas, Eliseo Salas, Gabriel Gamez, Roberto Calderon, Gloria Morales, Martin Camargo, Gianna Gonzalez, Mariama Machado, Alan Ruiz, Itzel Ruiz, Aliya Schuler, Estrella Schuler, Nataly Torres, Stacy Torres, Yirsi Verdin, Zuri Verdin performed beautifully for the crowd; and
WHEREAS, family and friends supported the dancers by contributing funds totaling $41,000 to make this once in a lifetime trip possible; and
WHEREAS, all of the volunteers, families, friends, and the greater community that support El Corazon de Mexico Ballet Folklorico deserve to be recognized for supporting such an inspiring program; Elaina and Kathleen deserve a special thank you for the unwavering support and dedication they provide the dancers; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That we commend El Corazon de Mexico Ballet Folklorico for their hard work and dedication to dance and for being invited to travel to Disney and the amazing performance that was presented to the visitors of Disney.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
