SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
It was determined lighting on Hill Avenue's western-most city limit to Byrne Road could be enhanced for the safety of citizens through improved street lighting. Light Emitting Diode (LED) street lamps offer brighter lighting patterns at a lower cost due to less energy consumption. Increasing light intensity on various streets and intersections by replacing the current streetlights with LED streetlights will reduce dangerous intersections and increase public safety in general.

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That it is necessary to improve a portion of Hill Avenue as described in Section 3 by upgrading the existing street lights from existing mercury vapor or high pressure sodium luminaires to new LED luminaires.

SECTION 2. That this Resolution for street lighting improvements is referred to the Department of Public Service for further processing pursuant to the Toledo Municipal Code and Charter.

SECTION 3. That a portion of Hill Avenue's western-most city limit to Byrne Road is specifically benefited by said improvements and shall be assessed at the rate per assessed front foot representing that part of the cost of lighting said streets or portion of said streets abutting said lots and lands.

SECTION 4. That the assessments so to be levied and assessed shall be levied and assessed annually in accordance with the assessing Ordinance hereafter to be passed by the Council and shall be certified to the County Auditor to be placed upon the tax duplicate and collected as other taxes.
